The Broken Seal - Chapter 10

Eve smiled warmly back at him and they exchanged a loving kiss.

« Hello Librarian. »
« Hello Guardian. »

He looked around and had a small bow.

« I see everyone’s already here. Where is Mister Drake ? »
« The snake has deserted the battleground. »

Flynn turned to Sasha who had just spoken and bent over the map.

« I couldn’t have said it better. »
« We’re searching for the place where the seal could be put back together. »

Maya showed him the area she had shown the others. « It was here last time. »
« You were there, I assume ? »
« Yes. »

Cassandra raised her hand shyly. « I may have an idea. »

Everybody turned towards her and she blushed.

« With the magic back, the ley lines are active again, and it may want to use one to amplify the spell. »
« That’s a good idea. »

Flynn took a small sphere and threw it up in the air. It became a globe alight with blue lines. He made it turn on itself until it presented America and with a gesture of his hands, made it bigger. Maya pointed to a faint point.

« There. »
Sasha showed another point not far. « Here, there’s a big convergence. We should check it out first. »

Jenkins started the process of opening a door while Flynn closed the globe. 

« We need weapons. »

Eve opened the chest under the stairs and the Librarians each armed themselves. 

The closet doors glowed blue and everyone proceeded through.

They emerged out of a garage on the edge of a small town, facing the desert.

Cassandra opened her mental map, calculated rapidly and pointed away from the town. « We have to go seven hundred and forty-two meters that way. »
« That means about half a mile. »

They walked a few feet, and the dragons all veered off path and separated. Seconds later seven majestic beasts were spreading their wings and roaring loudly in the morning sun. The Librarians had seen Sasha shift, but it hadn’t prepared them to the sight. Rowan and Cairn had retained some of their mother’s color, mostly the green. Maya was red and gold with black spikes, Lucius was all golden and very small, and the last two, Alba and Gwenn, were identical, white with blue snout and feet.

Maya took flight and circled the area. She landed after a minute and they all stopped. Her voice boomed.

« They're further away than we thought. And Alexandria… they're an army. I stayed away not to alarm them so I don't know how big. »
« Did you see Shaitan ? »
« Yes, it’s here. It’ s taken the high ground, on a hill. We have to attack from the air. »
« The most important thing is destroying the seal. »

Flynn intervened. « Would it be possible to carry us to the hill ? One of you takes care of Shaitan, and we break the seal. »

Sasha sounded somber. « Only a dragon can break the seal. »

« The dragons can create a diversion, drive Shaitan away from the seal. Then we go there and take care of it. »
One of the white dragons spoke in turn. « That could work. I can carry three of you, Sasha can carry the other two. »
Cairn took the head of the group creating the diversion and the Librarians realized they would fly on the back of a dragon. At the thought, Flynn looked excited, Eve concerned, Cassandra was in awe, Ezekiel scared, and Jacob just smiled. He was liking Sasha more and more.
